Brady adjusted and found a play that allowed Buffalo's offensive line to use its strength and power downhill against a 49ers defense that wasn't used to lake-effect snow. San Francisco got the memo about playing in the snow and the benefits for running backs. Christian McCaffrey, starting the evening as the snow melted, suddenly left the field with a supposed knee injury and headed to the locker room.
Running back James Cook played a starring role in the first half, rushing for 100 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Cook looks faster than anyone chasing him tonight. That's to be expected on a snowy field where it's much easier to move forward than to react to a ball carrier running forward.
Most notably, at halftime quarterback Josh Allen passed Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly for the most touchdowns in Buffalo Bills franchise history. Allen isn't even 30 yet, but he's already set a new franchise record before the end of his seventh pro season. Not bad for an overrated quarterback, right? There's concern about Allen's left hand, which he grimaced while grabbing during an early scramble. That likely means Buffalo's coaches will do everything in their power to limit the risk of further injury tonight.
Here's the open thread for the rest of today's games. As always, be kind to each other and in everything...Go Bills!
